Cedar Crest Farms, LLC started with two calves and has been built with loving care step by step by its founders, Kirk and Sabrina McKinney.

Kirk has been involved in the agriculture industry for almost 30 years in one form or another from cattle to row crops. Kirk began his farming career at McQueen Smith Farms in Autauga county, Alabama.

After leaving McQueen Smith Farms and while pursuing other professions, including service in the Alabama National Guard, Kirk met Sabrina and they were married in 1986. After Sabrina graduated from Auburn University and Jones School of law, she worked in the private practice of law for three years before she was offered the position as staff attorney for the Standing Chapter 13 Trustee for the United States Bankruptcy Court, Middle District of Alabama, where she is still serving today.

After some time away from the farm, Kirk returned to his true professional love, farming, at Home Place Associates Farms. From there, Kirk moved to Twin Valley Farms in our home town, Prattville, Alabama, were we both discovered the joys and rewards of the registered black angus industry. While working at Twin Valley, Kirk began building our own registered black angus herd. In addition to our registered herd, Kirk is currently employed as the cattle manager for a commercial cow-calf and diversified farm operation, Autauga Farming Company in Autaugaville, Alabama.

Kirk and Sabrina started building their herd in 1998 with just two calves, one bull and one heifer. From there they have grown first in steps, and now in leaps and bounds. We are excited about the future. Cedar Crest Farms has embarked on its next field of growth through its AI program in 2006. We look forward to the upcoming calving season.

During our course of growth, we have built many relationships, partnerships and connections. As much as we would like to, we know we cannot be everything to everyone.
